The Salvation Army Flag
During the Act of Remembrance when regimental flags are lowered, you many notice the flag of The Salvation Army is not lowered.
This is because The Salvation Army is a Christian church first and the flag is not representing any earthly regiment.
At the top of the Salvation Army flag is the cross, and not lowering it is not a sign of disrespect or a slight on the sacrifice of others for peace, but as Christians it represents the sacrifice of Christ on the cross.
Although it will be taken out of its holster, it remains pointing upwards towards God, in much the same way the church processional crosses you see are also not lowered during the Remembrance Act.
This does cause confusion on many of occasions.
